The cast of Fawlty Towers have reunited at The Naval & Military Club in central London to mark the sitcom's 30th anniversary.

John Cleese, Andrew Sachs, Prunella Scales and Connie Booth met for a photoshoot to promote two new clips shows about the hit BBC series, which will air later this month on G.O.L.D.

Speaking about the reunion, Cleese said: "We see each other individually, but we don't ever meet all four together. I was over here last summer and had some lunches with Pru and Andrew.

"Connie and I had dinner together a number of times, but I can't actually remember when all four of us have been together...It's been a very, very long time."

Cleese also insisted that everyone was "too old" to make any more episodes of the hotel-based comedy.

"We're too old and tired now [to do any more]. It took so much energy to do that show," he said. "Everyone would be excited if we did, but the trouble is when it is generally accepted that you have done something good there's a problem of 'how do you top it?'

"The bar gets moved so high it's almost impossible to top it. It was like when I did the movie Fierce Creatures after making A Fish Called Wanda. The bar is almost too high and it's almost always a mistake to do it. So we will all just have dinner together instead."

The two specials, Fawlty Towers: Re-Opened and Fawlty Exclusive: Basil's Best Bits, will air exclusively on G.O.L.D. at 9pm on May 10 and 17 respectively.
