The Dirty Dancing star admitted that he believed he was "invincible" in his youth and wishes he had been more mindful of what he put his body through, the New York Daily News reports.
He said: "My big regret is the physical damage I’ve done to my body. I can do almost anything physically and I used to believe I was invincible, breaking bones over and over, playing football, doing gymnastics, diving, ballet, doing my own stunts, kick boxing, staging fights."
He added: "It all seems a little stupid to me now."
The actor, who has been battling pancreatic cancer since early 2008, is the subject of upcoming biography Patrick Swayze: One Last Dance, due out on Tuesday.
He is currently working on his autobiography with wife Lisa Niemi, which is scheduled for a September release.
