WENN
The Oscar-winning actress accused the publication of defamation after an article suggested that she had lied about the amount of exercise she did in order to stay in shape.
In legal papers filed at London's High Court, Winslet claimed that she had been "distressed" and "embarrassed" by the allegation, which she said had been written in a nasty and unpleasant manner.
She added that the content had injured her personal and professional reputation.
According to the lawsuit, the Daily Mail has refused to promise that the allegations will not be repeated in a future issue.
Back in 2007, the actress accepted a "substantial" libel settlement from Grazia after the magazine falsely claimed that she had visited a diet doctor.
