Miss California 'gets phone call from Palin'

Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin has allegedly phoned Miss California Carrie Prejean to pledge her support after the beauty queen's recent remarks against gay marriage.

William Prejean, the father of the 21-year-old, told E! that the former vice-presidential candidate had called his daughter "to offer support" before a topless photo of the beauty queen appeared online.

However, he had no details on the phone conversation or of Palin's opinion of the controversial image.

The photograph, which Prejean has previously stated was taken as a teenager, may lead to the removal of her title.

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton recently branded Prejean a "dumb bitch" after her controversial comments against same-sex marriage at the Miss USA pageant.
