Katie Hopkins has revealed that she has secretly suffered from epilepsy since the age of 18.
The businesswoman, who walked out of the 2007 final of The Apprentice, told the Daily Mail that she felt it was now appropriate to be open about her condition.
Hopkins said: "I have hidden my condition for so long but it is time people knew how common it is and why it is nothing to fear."
She added that she decided to keep her condition secret when she won a place at the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst, Berkshire.
Hopkins said: "I didn't want a few fits to stop me achieving my dream so I didn't lie, I just didn't tell them.
"I didn't realise epilepsy treatment is not an exact science and it takes experimentation to find the right dose, but I decided just to live with it and carry on with all the lies."
Hopkins, who now runs a management consultancy firm, was dismissed by the academy when they checked her GP records after suspicions were raised about her health.
