Russell Brand is planning to discuss the Manuelgate scandal in an updated version of his autobiography, it has been claimed.

The comedian sparked outrage by leaving lewd messages on Andrew Sachs's answerphone while recording an edition of his Radio 2 show last October.

Brand resigned from the BBC in the aftermath of the scandal, while his show guest Jonathan Ross was suspended from the corporation for 12 weeks.

The 33-year-old's memoir My Booky Wook has already sold 600,000 copies since its release in 2007. An updated edition is now expected to be published in October.

A source told The People: "Russell is savvy enough to know he has to get it out there before Andrew or Jonathan do."

Sachs recently accused Brand and Ross of being unrepentant over their behaviour.
