The actress, 64, had intended to stage a 21-day fast but that goal fell nine days short after her doctor ordered her to stop on Friday, People reports.
The UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador started her hunger strike on April 27 to protest the risk of starvation for one million people in Darfur.
She said: "I was very disappointed. I am a very stubborn person and very determined. I had modified my goal from 21 days and really hoped that I would reach my goal of fasting for 16 days, which is the number of aid agencies expelled."
The Rosemary’s Baby star said that during the past 12 days she watched Schindler’s List, listened to classical music and read books.
She has begun to eat oranges and drink soup to regain her strength, and feels "much more peaceful" with food in her system again.
Farrow added: "While a million people in Darfur are facing starvation, I have the ability to end my fast. These people do not have that option. If I have any use at all, it is to speak for them."
