Bob Dylan visited the childhood home of John Lennon unnoticed as part of a group tour, it has been claimed.

The singer-songwriter went on the £16 excursion to the house where Lennon grew up with his Aunt Mimi in Liverpool and was said to be "enthralled" by the former Beatle's bedroom, Bang Media reports.

A National Trust representative said: "We couldn't believe it when his agent rang us and asked if we could get Bob on one of our tours to see John's house.

"He spent ages going through photo albums and all the memorabilia. He's definitely the biggest celebrity we’ve ever had on our tours. But incredibly no-one else recognised him."

Dylan recently expressed a desire to collaborate with Lennon's former bandmate Paul McCartney.
