Fishburne receives honourary doctorate

Laurence Fishburne has received an honourary doctorate from Howard University.

The Matrix star attended his graduation ceremony in Washington D.C. last weekend, when he was awarded with the academic accolade for his accomplishments in acting, according to Contactmusic.

Of his award, Fishburne said: "I became a doctor. I received an honorary doctorate from Howard University last weekend in the humanities for my work as an artist and my contribution to society, which is pretty long, almost 40 years now. And now I'm Dr. Fishburne."
