Baldwin slammed over mail-order bride joke

Alec Baldwin has been slammed by a Philippines senator after making a joke about wanting a Filipino mail-order bride.

The 30 Rock star, who has a 13-year-old daughter with Kim Basinger, made the quip during an appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman last week.

When asked about expanding his family, he replied: "I'm thinking about getting a Filipino mail-order bride at this point…or a Russian one!"

Speaking to The AP, senator Ramon Revilla branded the actor as "arrogant" and the comment as "insensitive and uncalled for", adding: "Let him try to come here in the Philippines and he'll see mayhem."

Revilla, a former action movie star, added that Baldwin was obviously unaware of the country's strict laws against mail-order brides.
