Iggy Pop has revealed that he was chosen by Swiftcover to front its recent advertising campaign because the company thought that he was likeable.

The TV advert was recently labelled "misleading" by the Advertising Standards Authorities because the insurer did not offer policies tailored for musicians when it first aired.

When asked why he was picked for the commercials, Iggy told The Times: "This is so embarrassing. I was afraid you'd ask me that. This is so f**king embarrassing.

"They said they wanted this series of ads to be performed by somebody...somebody you can't help but like! That’s a very nervous position to be in, to be liked!"
