T.I. 'requests delay in jail sentence'

T.I. has requested additional time before he begins his prison sentence for federal weapons charges, according to Arkansas's Fort Mills Times.

The rapper, real name Clifford Harris, has asked a court to delay his upcoming sentence by ten days so that he can secure a cell in a minimum security facility near his Georgia hometown.

Harris, 28, was handed a one year and one day jail term earlier this year, after he was arrested for attempting to buy unregistered machine guns and silencers in 2007.

He had been scheduled to serve his sentence at a low-security prison in Forrest City, Arkansas and has been given until May 26 to hand himself over to authorities.

The 'Dead And Gone' star will reportedly be eligible for early release within ten months, provided that he exhibits good behaviour behind bars.
