Mariah Carey: 'Don't mention my age'

Mariah Carey has told reporters at the Cannes Film Festival not to mention her age.

The singer, who turned 40 in March, said that she refuses to be defined by how old she is.

"Don't say the F word around me. It's just a number, but I don't see why women should have to conform to what is expected of a 40-year-old, whatever that is," she explained.

Carey and 28-year-old husband Nick Cannon recently celebrated their first year of marriage in Las Vegas.
