Carey paid $1.5m to open Turkey hotel

Mariah Carey was among a host of celebrities commemorating the opening of the Mardan Palace Hotel in Turkey on Saturday.

According to the New York Post, the singer was paid $1.5 million (£1,071,581) for her appearance, which included a short performance of her songs.

Richard Gere, Sharon Stone and Seal also appeared at the star-studded event.

The Mardan Palace Hotel has 17 bars, 10 restaurants, 560 rooms and two royal suites priced at £14,000 a night.
