Richard Madeley: 'Sex is very important'

Richard Madeley has revealed that he thinks sex is very important.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the chatshow host also said that he drinks too much wine.

"I probably drink too much white wine," he said. "I always have a glass with lunch, it's very good for the digestion - I'm the only one in our office who drinks on the premises but I don't care; I'm 52 and I'll do what I like.

"I also have several glasses at home in the evening. I'm sure it's over the recommended units but it doesn't seem to have done me any harm. Maybe that's why I've aged well - I'm pickled!"

Asked if sex is important to him, he replied: "Yes, very much so. Our sexuality is where we come into contact with the force of nature. Without it, as a species, we'd be dead!"

He added: "I think it's a fundamental force in all of us, whether it's denied or repressed and I think it's absolutely an intricate part of humanity."

Earlier this month, Madeley announced that he and wife Judy Finnigan are quitting their UKTV chatshow.
