Attorney Doron Weinberg is not contesting the Wall Of Sound star's mandated sentence of 15 years to life for his second-degree murder conviction.
However, he has asked for the sentencing enhancement for gun use to be restricted to three years, rather than the four requested by prosecutors.
Court papers also reveal that Weinberg has insisted that Spector is not responsible for the death of actress Lana Clarkson and has said that the case against him was based on "conjecture, not facts", The AP reports.
Last month, Spector was found guilty of killing Clarkson at his Alhambra, California mansion in 2003.
The record producer is scheduled to be sentenced this Friday.
