My Chemical Romance singer becomes father

My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way has become a father for the first time.

The singer and his wife Lyn-Z, the bassist of Mindless Self Indulgence, welcomed a baby girl named Bandit Lee Way yesterday.

Speaking to People, a representative for the couple said: "Their daughter was born in Los Angeles at 2.57pm and weighs 6 lbs 5.6 oz. Everyone is healthy and happy."

A Twitter message posted by his sister-in-law Alicia Way read: "Bandit has finally arrived and she's basically the most amazing thing ever."

Way and Lyn-Z, real name Lindsey Ballato, tied the knot backstage following a My Chemical Romance concert in September 2007.

He previously admitted to being "very excited" about fatherhood, adding: "I don't know that I ever thought about having a kid, but then I also didn't expect to meet Lindsey, and when I met her I knew she'd be the one person I could have a kid with."
