The reality star sparked concern when she slurred her words and acted erratically, prompting presenters Philip Schofield and Fern Britton to question whether she had been drinking. She later claimed that her behaviour was caused by her bipolar medication.
Speaking to GMTV in her first breakfast interview since the incident, she said: "What annoyed me about it was they never approached me and asked what medication I was on.
"It still upsets me now. I was nationally embarrassed because of medication and illness."
Katona, 28, went on to say that she had skipped her medication last night, explaining: "I thought if I take my meds, because it's early in the morning I'll start slurring and I'll just get criticised again because the public don't understand it."
She added: "After This Morning I got criticised so much and no-one approached me about bipolar but [my reality] show has opened it up.
"They've even put a character in EastEnders with bipolar which is really good. So hopefully now people will learn a lot about bipolar through my show."
Kerry Katona: What's The Problem? airs on Sundays at 10pm on MTV One.
