According to The Mirror, the 52-year-old actress is currently going through legal proceedings to decide upon custody of their children, Jessica, 17, and Harrison, 10.
Knights has reportedly moved out of their family home in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire.
Taylforth, who has appeared in EastEnders and The Bill, was allegedly beaten up by her lover three years ago. Knights was arrested after being accused of hitting her head against a table, but she never pressed charges and he was released with a caution.
Sources claim that Taylforth's family are "delighted" by the break-up of their relationship.
