Madonna attorney denies adoption reports

Reports that Madonna has received approval to adopt a Malawian child are false, her lawyer has said.

Earlier today, it was reported that the singer had convinced three appeal judges to allow her adoption of toddler Mercy James.

However, Madonna's attorney Alan Chinula told Access Hollywood that the claims were "not true at all".

He said: "The Chief Justice is not very amused. We're very unhappy about it."

Chinula also plans to meet with the judge to explain that the situation is a misunderstanding.

The lawyer added that the court's ruling on Madonna's petition to adopt could come any day.
