Miley Cyrus 'splits from Justin Gaston'

Miley Cyrus and Justin Gaston have broken up, it has been reported.

The Hannah Montana star ended the romance last week before she left to shoot her next movie The Last Song in Georgia, says E!.

"They have been having trouble for a while. It's been hard for a long time since Miley has been working so much and travelling a lot," a close friend of the 16-year-old said.

A friend of Gaston revealed that the amount of time Cyrus spent with ex-boyfriend Nick Jonas also put a strain on the relationship.

"She obviously has been hanging out with Nick again a lot and Justin was cool with it at first - as long as it was just a cool friendly thing.

"She didn't cheat, but I guess Nick was trying to get her back the whole time," the insider said.

Cyrus and model Gaston, 20, were first romantically linked in October 2008.
