Hundreds of fans have attended David Beckham's launch of Armani's latest underwear range on Oxford Street.

The England footballer arrived at Selfridges department store this morning to unveil a giant poster of himself posing in the tight-fitting pants.

Beckham was greeted by cheers and screams at the front of the store in central London.

The 34-year-old admitted that he found it a "little embarrassing" when the photos were revealed to the public and confessed to "working out a little" before the snaps were taken.

66-year-old Maureen Reynolds, who was one of the first in the queue to meet the sports star, told Sky News: "I've brought calendars and books for him to sign. I'm his biggest fan and have been for years because he's a fabulous footballer."

Designer Georgio Armani commented: "David has a great sense of style and he is also very sexy. David is genuinely a positive role model - a sports hero, husband and father. And it is for this that I applaud him."
