Michael Douglas has received the AFI's 37th Lifetime Achievement Award.

The 64-year-old was honoured at a ceremony on Thursday with guests including Jack Nicholson, Tobey Maguire, Benicio del Toro, Sharon Stone, Martin Sheen and Oliver Stone, E! reports.

"I've had so many of my high moments and so many of my fine moments with you," Nicholson said of working with Douglas.

The tribute included a surprise performance from Bob Dylan, whose music was featured on the soundtrack of the actor's 2000 film Wonder Boys.

Douglas's wife Catherine Zeta-Jones was also among the performers, singing 'One' from his 1985 movie A Chorus Line.

The honours for Douglas will air in the US on July 19 on TV Land.
