The 'I’m The Only One' singer has signed up with the Noreen Fraser Foundation, an organisation that raises monies for the development of new cancer prevention methods and non-toxic therapies to treat cancer in females, People reports.
The Grammy Award-winner was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, and called teaming with the body "a dream come true".
"I have been searching for an organisation to lend my name and insight with the same beliefs, outlook and treatment practices to combat women's cancers as I do," she said in a statement. "I look forward to helping NFF achieve their goals."
Etheridge had a commitment ceremony with partner Tammy Lynn Michaels in 2003 and recently spoke out about California’s ban on same-sex marriage.
