'Ugly Betty' star Ortiz preparing to give birth

Ana Ortiz has revealed that she is busy preparing for the arrival of her baby girl in July.

The Ugly Betty actress, who plays Hilda Suarez in the US series, is yet to settle on a name for her unborn daughter and said that the process of choosing one has been difficult, TV Guide reports.

She said: "Naming is hard! We have a shortlist that keeps fluctuating between five to seven names. We're not going with any of the Apple or Pineapple names. I really want a Spanish name, but it has to be a Spanish name Americans can say without destroying it.

"I really like these old lady names."

The mother-to-be has readied an eco-friendly nursery and was recently given a baby shower by her co-stars.

She added: "It was incredible. It was family and friends. Vanessa [Williams] organised catering for the event and America [Ferrera] helped organise to get all the stuff together with the Hot Mums Club who put the thing up. It was crazy and so much fun."

Ortiz revealed that she will be expected on the set of the ABC show not too long after her child’s birth, and that her mother will look after the infant while she is working.

"It's like I'm going to leave the hospital and go right to set!" she said. "My mum's going to be on set with me... [the baby] is going to be a set baby for sure. Are you kidding me? America wouldn't let me on set if I didn't have that baby!"

Ugly Betty will now air on Friday nights when it returns in the autumn.
