Cher 'supporting' daughter's sex change

Cher has claimed that she will "strive to understand" her daughter's decision to undergo a sex change.

Speaking to People, the legendary singer insisted that she would "support" Chaz Bono as he began treatment to change his gender from female to male.

"Chaz is embarking on a difficult journey... I respect the courage it takes to go through this transition in the glare of public scrutiny," Extra quotes her as telling the magazine.

"Although I may not understand, I will strive to be understanding. The one thing that will never change is my abiding love for my child."

Chaz, 40, is reported to be undergoing testosterone treatment to alter his body and voice, while the magazine also claims that he is planning to have a double mastectomy.
