Lohan mum: 'Lindsay is not a thief'

Lindsay Lohan's mother has refuted recent reports that her daughter was involved in a theft after a magazine shoot.

Diamond earrings and a necklace to the value of £250,000 were loaned by Dior to Elle for a photoshoot last week and were later reported missing.

However, Dina Lohan denies her daughter was in any way involved, calling the reports "defamatory, false and unfair", and blasting the press for suggesting otherwise.

"Last month her personal cell was posted online and now her phone messages have been hacked," she told People. "This must stop. She is a 22-year-old girl who needs to live her life in peace. The tabloids need to leave her alone with all the lies and reporting with no proof."

Lohan reportedly said she is "happy to help" with police investigations.

A spokesperson for Elle said: "Items of jewellery went missing from an Elle photoshoot two weeks ago and the matter is now being investigated by the police. Elle has no reason to believe that Miss Lohan was in any way responsible and has no further comment to make."
