Hilton began dating the Hills star and baseball player last December, referring to him as "my future husband" before their split earlier this month.
Speaking to E! Online, her aunt Kyle Richards said: "The stories out there about our family not approving of their relationship are completely true.
"Doug was riding Paris's coattails. The break-up affected me in a good way. It's definitely time for Paris to move on."
Hilton's mother Kathy added: "I think Paris needs to be with someone who is a bit more mature, older and has their own thing."
The 28-year-old is currently rumoured to be romancing footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, after the pair were spotted partying together in Los Angeles just 24 hours after her split from Reinhardt.
