Madonna has reportedly been reunited with her adopted daughter Mercy James in London.

The singer is thought to have taken custody of the four-year-old yesterday, after the child made the 6,000-mile journey from Malawi to the United Kingdom by private jet.

According to The Mirror, she was immediately taken to a Kabbalah meeting with siblings Lourdes, 12, eight-year-old Rocco and David, three.

Madonna's ex-husband Guy Ritchie, who met Mercy in 2006, was also present. He is reported to have later taken Rocco and David to his Wiltshire mansion to allow Madonna time to bond with her new daughter.

The director of the children's home in Malawi where Mercy had been living later said: "The process was long but at last she has found happiness."

However, the man claiming to be Mercy's biological father has again spoken out against the adoption, saying: "My Mercy is gone. Madonna has used her money and power but my blood lives in Mercy for ever and ever. There is nothing I can do now."

Madonna won the right to adopt Mercy earlier this month, after a Malawian appeal court ruled that she would provide the youngster with a better quality of life.
