DJ Sonique's second operation for breast cancer was a success, her representative has confirmed.

The singer, real name Sonia Clarke, will now undergo five months of chemotherapy, reports the BBC.

"She's comfortable and the second operation was successful," said her agent Stuart Watts. "She's very tired but considering what she's been through, she's in quite good spirits."

Clarke, 40, was told last week that she would require extra surgery after it was revealed that her cancer had spread. She was admitted to the Harley Street clinic at the start of the week as a matter of urgency.

The musician, who began her career in reggae band Fari, shot to mainstream fame with number one single 'It Feels So Good' in 2000. She was scheduled to release new single 'World Of Change' and tour Europe this summer, but her music plans are currently on hold.
