The actress, who plays Hermione Granger in the wizarding franchise, has been linked to a string of schools in both the UK and the US ahead of beginning a degree in English Literature and Art later this year.
Speaking to Teen Vogue, she said: "I just want to keep it private for as long as I can. I probably sound like a paranoid nut, but I'm doing this because I want to be normal. I really want anonymity."
She went on to say that she was hoping to live in halls with other students and would "be fine" as long as she "didn't walk in and see Harry Potter posters everywhere".
When asked about juggling studying with filming Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, she replied: "I've been saying that I wanted to go to university since I was eleven, so if they didn't let me, I'd be pretty upset."
She added that she would probably film her scenes over the winter holidays because part of the plot would see Helena Bonham Carter playing the role of Hermione.
