The former Tonight Show announcer passed away at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Centre surrounded by his family this morning, says The AP.
His publicist Howard Bragman declined to comment on the cause of death, but admitted that McMahon had been suffering from a "multitude of health problems over the last few months".
He was known to have had bone cancer, among other illnesses, and reports have suggested that he had been in the hospital for several weeks.
McMahon was best known for his role as Johnny Carson's sidekick on The Tonight Show, where he coined the legendary catchphrase, "Heeeeere's Johnny!"
