Amanda Brumfield, 29, was arrested after a one-year-old girl that she was babysitting died in October 2008. An autopsy report revealed that the infant suffered a fractured skull and brain injury.
During a hearing in Orlando, Florida, she was indicted on charges of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated manslaughter. She was denied bail and returned to the Orange County Jail.
Brumfield had told investigaters that the child had hit her head in a fall, but police later suggested that her explanation of events was not consistent with the youngster's injuries.
Following her arrest last month, a publicist for Thornton claimed that he had "had no contact" with his daughter "for quite some time".
