The shock news of Michael Jackson's death has sparked online rumours of Jeff Goldblum and Harrison Ford's passings.

It was alleged that Goldblum, who is currently filming alongside Ford for a 2010 film called Morning Glory, fell to his death from a cliff at Kauri Cliffs golf course in Northlandin, New Zealand.

The rumours were then repeated by the country's Channel Nine entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins on the station's Today programme.

The claims, however, have been subsequently rubbished by police as well as a number of online sources.

TVNZ reports that New Zealand's police communication officer John Neilson has denied the story, claiming that the same tale "was going around a couple of months ago".

Only days ago, the examiner website announced that the cast and crew of Morning Glory were shooting on location in New York.

A similar story alleging that Tom Hanks fell to his death in the same New Zealand location surfaced in November 2006.

A spokesperson for Goldblum or Ford are yet to release statements.
