The 'Thriller' star, who passed away from a suspected cardiac arrest last night, had been scheduled to perform up to 60 dates at London's O2 arena from next month.
Speaking to Sky News, long-time friend Geller said: "I don't think it was a mistake to take the tour, but I think it was a mistake to do so many shows, to target 50 shows.
"I think three or four or five, a maximum ten, but to do 50 is hard for any super artists. Michael wasn't a teenager, but he was very fit both in his mind and in his soul, and physically in his body.
"He was a dancer, for goodness sake. He danced all his life and he was fit, he was thin, he was careful in what he ate. He would not touch junk food."
Geller added that he wanted to "wake tomorrow and think that this is a horror film and this is a drama, but unfortunately it is not. Michael is dead".
