Ex-girlfriend Shields pays tribute to Jackson

Brooke Shields has paid tribute to her former boyfriend Michael Jackson following the news that he has passed away.

The Lipstick Jungle star, who briefly dated Jackson, admitted that she was "overcome by sadness" after learning of his death.

In a statement, she said: "My heart is overcome with sadness for the devastating loss of my true friend Michael.

"He was an extraordinary friend, artist and contributor to the world. I join his family and his fans in celebrating his incredible life and mourning his untimely passing."

Jackson, 50, passed away at the UCLA Medical Centre last night following a suspected cardiac arrest.
