Warwick salutes 'industry icon' Jackson

Soul singer Dionne Warwick has joined the tributes to Michael Jackson, calling him an "icon in our industry".

Warwick was a longtime friend of the late singer, contributing to his 1985 charity single 'We Are The World'.

"Michael was a friend and undoubtedly one of the world's greatest entertainers that I fortunately had the pleasure of working with," she said. "We have lost an icon in our industry."

Jackson was pronounced dead yesterday at 2.26pm local time (9.26pm GMT) after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest.
