Ex-Corrie star Jones splits from lover

Former Coronation Street star Suranne Jones has split from long-term partner Lorenzo Giove.

The actress, who played Karen McDonald in the Weatherfield soap, said that she was "very sad and upset" following the break-up.

She told the Sunday Mirror: "There is no-one else involved, but unfortunately the relationship has just run its course. It just wasn't meant to be. Deciding to end a relationship is never easy but we both felt this was for the best."

Jones is now living by herself after plumber Giove moved out of their Manchester home. The couple started dating in 2006 and were reportedly planning to wed.

She quit the soap in 2004, and currently stars in ITV1's Unforgiven.
