Cameron Diaz has admitted that she feels honoured to have her own star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.

The actress, who unveiled her plaque at a ceremony earlier this week, revealed that studio Warner Brothers submitted her name in support of her role in the movie My Sister's Keeper.

"It's such a great honour. It's one of those things that before you come up to in happening, there's all the logistics over how many people you can invite, who's going where, the whole thing. Then you have to prepare a speech, or don't, but I opted to," she told The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien.

Asked how the star came about, she said: "Warner Brothers submitted my name on behalf of this film, and they accepted it."

The movie revolves around a girl who attempts to earn medical emancipation from her parents after they've been relying on their youngest child to help their cancer-stricken daughter. Diaz said that she connected to the "truthful and honest" screenplay.

"It comes at you straightforward. That was how I connected to it, talking to parents and knowing what it is to really love deeply. I knew that there are people in your life who you'd do anything for, so to connect with that was easy... Your child is sick, but you never stop."
