The former Tonight Show sidekick died last week at the age of 86.
During his memorial service, which was attended by his family and fellow celebrities, the television veteran received an applause "loud enough for him to hear", a source told Entertainment Tonight.
The service was held at the Church of the Hills at Forest Lawn Memorial Parks and Mortuaries in the Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles, where approximately 200 guests paid their respects to the late star.
Natalie Cole, who was released from hospital last month after undergoing a successful kidney transplant, sang her song 'Smile'.
Other celebrities in attendance included Jimmy Kimmel and Tony Danza. Joanna Carson, the wife of ex-Tonight Show host Johnny, was also at the interment. McMahon’s partner Pam, his children and his grandchildren spoke at the funeral.
Last week current Tonight Show presenter Conan O’Brien paid tribute to the TV icon.
