George Clooney has become the latest celebrity to fall victim to an online death hoax.
The Ocean's Eleven star has been forced to assure friends and family that he is alive and well after rumours began circulating across the internet that he had died.
Speaking to TMZ, a representative for the actor admitted that he was baffled to receive a multitude of calls from legitimate media outlets and friends who had heard the false claims.
This marks the third time this week that a celebrity has been forced to deny rumours that they are dead, following a wave of hoax reports in the wake of Michael Jackson's death.
Jurassic Park star Jeff Goldblum was prompted to speak out to deny rumours that he had died in a New Zealand cliff accident, while Britney Spears has also assured fans that she is fine after a morbid message was posted on her Twitter account.
Other stars to have been targeted by similar hoaxes include Natalie Portman, Miley Cyrus, Harrison Ford, Bruce Willis and Rick Astley.
