Jackman, Hathaway join Picture Academy

Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway have been asked to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The X-Men actor, who hosted last year’s Oscars, has been invited to become a member of the honorary body along with Hathaway and other Hollywood stars, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

James Franco, Michael Cera, Seth Rogan, Paul Rudd. Viola Davis, Taraji P. Henson, Melissa Leo and Michael Shannon were also among the 134 people to be issued invitations to join the prestigious organisation.

Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle, helmer Henry Selick and Tyler Perry also made the cut for inclusion.

A maximum of 166 slots were available to fill this year. However, the branch committee endorsed fewer candidates than were presented to them this time around.
