It was previously reported that fans would be able to pay their respects to the deceased popstar at his former Santa Barbara estate this Friday.
However, Jackson's relatives have issued a statement through their representatives denying that there will be a public service, according to TMZ.
"Contrary to previous news reports, the Jackson family is officially stating that there will be no public or private viewing at Neverland.
"Plans are underway regarding a public memorial for Michael Jackson, and we will announce those plans shortly."
It was suggested earlier that news of the memorial service caused a frenzy for hotel rooms in the area. One nearby inn sold out from Thursday through Sunday within 20 minutes of the initial broadcast.
