DEA 'joins Jackson investigation'

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has been asked to aid the LAPD's investigation of Michael Jackson's death, according to reports.

The agency, which enforces US controlled substances laws, has been called upon to assist in probing the late singer's doctors and his alleged drug use, says The AP.

It is understood that the DEA was brought in on the case to provide expertise in uncovering illegal drug manufacturers - known as "pill mills" - after the 50-year-old popstar was reportedly using various pseudonyms to obtain prescription painkillers.

Earlier today, it was reported that registered nurse Cherilyn Lee claimed that Jackson asked for and was denied Propofol, a strong anaesthetic designed for surgical use that was supposedly found in his home following his passing last Thursday.
