The organisers behind Michael Jackson's public memorial service have confirmed that they will give away tickets to the Staples Centre, Los Angeles event.

AEG president Tim Lieweki said earlier today that 17,500 tickets will be released through a random ballot for people who register at Staplescenter.com for the 10am (PST) Tuesday service, The LA Times reports.

The company also said that 8,750 names will be allotted 2 tickets each. Those selected will be notified between 11am and 8pm (PST) on Sunday, when they will be told the location of where to pick up their respective passes. Tickets and wristbands will then be available for collection on Monday.

The ceremony will be aired on television and steamed online, while there will be no funeral procession. No tickets will be sold to the event and further information on what the memorial service will entail is yet to be unveiled.
