Madonna has promised to pay tribute to Michael Jackson when she performs at London's O2 arena this weekend.

The 50-year-old singer's 'Sticky and Sweet' world tour returns to the capital tonight and will feature extracts from Jackson's hit songs 'Billie Jean' and 'Wanna Be Startin' Something'.

Madonna and her backing dancers have also decided to wear single white gloves, one of Jacko's favourite wardrobe accessories, during the concert's finale.

Confirming her plans in an interview with The Sun, the star explained: "I am so terribly sad about Michael Jackson's death. I don't know what artist wasn't inspired by him.

"To be able to do what he did at such an early age was unearthly, everybody grew up in awe of him. To work with him and become friends and hang out with him was exciting for me. I used to love picking his brains about musical stuff."

The Queen of Pop performs at The O2 tonight and tomorrow before moving on to Manchester and Paris next week.

Madonna previously admitted that she "couldn't stop crying" over Jackson's death after the news was confirmed on June 25.
