Ramsay hits back at press backlash

Gordon Ramsay has insisted that he does not deserve the backlash he has suffered in recent months.

The celebrity chef found himself at the centre of a press frenzy last year after he was accused of cheating on his wife Tana with Sarah Symonds, who he met at a nightclub in 2001.

Ramsay recently faced further criticism following claims that he had labelled Australian broadcaster Tracy Grimshaw a "lesbian pig" during a live cooking demonstration.

Reflecting on the controversies in an interview with the Daily Mail, Ramsay explained: "Yeah, well, I'm human, aren't I? I'm not a f****** saint. I don't walk round with a halo, but, then, I've never claimed to. And, yes, these last months have had me asking: 'Am I really as horrendous a person as people seem to think?'

"I don't think I am. I've made mistakes, f*** me, I've made mistakes. But not ones that deserve all this bulls***. Not ones that have this sort of effect on my family. Tana has been badly affected by all this. She's had to deal with all this c*** when she'd done absolutely nothing wrong."

Responding to Symonds' affair claims, he added: "Did I know her? Yes, of course. She'd met Tana, for God's sake. But did I have a torrid seven year affair with her? Did I f***!"

Meanwhile, Ramsay made a public apology to TV host Grimshaw last month and now hopes to move on from the row.

He commented: "I never said she was a lesbian, as has been reported, but the pig thing - well, I screwed up. Hands up. That's the thing about me, when I make a mistake I admit to it. I say sorry. I'm sorry."
