The couple have toured aquariums, the zoo, sports stadiums and film studios since their arrival in the Australian city, where Holmes is filming horror movie Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark.
That morning, Cruise revealed to a Herald Sun photographer that he was a keen snapper himself, before asking to borrow his camera to take pictures of three-year-old daughter Suri.
Speaking for the first time since arriving in Australia, the actor also revealed that he was a big fan of Frankie Valli and plays his CDs regularly at home.
Later that day, the family were spotted at the matinee performance of the award-winning musical. One fellow audience member said: "We noticed Tom and Katie just before the show started. A buzz went through the theatre."
The source added that Cruise made litle effort to fade into the background and instead "stood up and waved at everyone".
