After a short stay in Sanctuary Cove, Ramsay and wife Tana, who was sporting a broken wrist, arrived in Sydney to look for a place for his new restaurant. He revealed to radio station 2DayFM: "We're looking now - there are two or three sites popping up across Sydney."
Ramsay hopes that his first restaurant in the country will be open within 18 months and run by a local chef. "It's about the chef," he said. "I'd be stupid not to employ a local Aussie."
Since the backlash of the argument with Grimshaw, Ramsay has been doing his best to ingratiate himself with the public at cooking demonstrations and book signings. At one public appearance, he was even asked for a 'tongue-kiss' by an elderly woman. "My first tonguey," he joked. "Sadly, no teeth."
He has also been trying to win back the respect of Australians, praising Sydney's restaurants and cuisine. "Australia is really up there," he said. "Elegant. Simple. Delicious."
