Brooke Shields spoke of her "natural" friendship with Michael Jackson at his public memorial in LA yesterday.

The Lipstick Jungle star, who had a close relationship with Jackson when she was a teenager, spoke at the service at the LA Staples Center.

Shields described her and Jackson as an "odd couple", but insisted that they had "one of the most natural and easiest friendships". She said: "We had a bond and maybe it was because we both understood what it was like to be in the spotlight at a very young age."

The actress went on to share memories of Jackson teaching her the moonwalk and said that she teased him for wearing his famous glove: "I was like 'What's up with the glove? If you're going to hold my hand, it better be with the non-gloved one'."

Shields later read a passage from the book The Little Prince.
